Mary Hunter Armstrong

OXFORD: Mary Hunter Madie Armstrong, of Oxford, North Carolina, gently departed this life Saturday, May 5, 2012. Born August 1, 1923 in LaCrosse, Virginia to the late James Howard Hunter and Nelda Rose Hunter. She was the widow of Durwood Armstrong of Richmond, Virginia. Madie was preceded ineeath by her sister, Nell Rose Sanders, and son, James Lewis Armstrong. She is survived by two children, Durwood Hunter Armstrong of Richmond, Virginia, and Judith Armstrong Davison of Oxford, North Carolina, a son-in-law, Treadwell Davison, Jr., two granddaughters, Mary Lillington Davison of Providence, Rhode Island, and Katharine Blake Davison of Oxford, and a sister, Anne Hunter Brulatour of LaCrosse, Virginia, along with loving friends too neerous to mention. Madie attended Averett College in Danville, Virginia and was graduated from Farmville State Teachers College Longwood Uneersity. She attended Oxford Uneed Methodist Church and was an enthusiastic member of the Order of St. Luke. A memorial service will be held at Oxford Uneed Methodist Church, Friday, May 11, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., following which the family will receive friends at home for a luneeon. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to ACIM. The Armstrong family is under the care of Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home.
