Mary Freeman Nichols

Mrs. Mary Freeman Nichols, 90, former resident of Robbins Road died Friday morning in Rose Manor health Care Center. Mrs. Nichols was born in Durham County and was the daughter of the late O. M. and Sally Watts Freeman. She was educated in the Durham County Schools. She was the widow of the late J. Rufus Nichols who died in 1986. She was a faithful member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church until her health declined. Surviving are three daughter, Mrs. Mary Anne Duncan and husband David L. Duncan of Mebane, NC, Ms. Peggy L. Nichols and Mrs. Patsy N. Johnson both of Durham; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Private graveside services will be held 4:00 PM Saturday in the Olive Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Gerald C. Goodwin will preside In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mrs. Nichols nee may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 5950 Fairview Road, Suite 550 Charlotte, NC 28210.
