Mrs. Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Wilkerson, age 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 30, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Floyd Lunsford and Allie Gentry Lunsford and began her full life in Person County, NC on May 21, 1933.
Betty was a homemaker with a special talent in the kitchen. She was well known for her cooking and baking. Her homemade breads and pies were enjoyed by friends and family and were often found at many church and community gatherings. Betty also enjoyed reading and sewing and was often found with a little flashlight for a better view of both activities.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Wanda Daniel of Williamston, NC, Cynthia K. Currin (Ronald) of Oxford, NC, and Linda K. Roberson (Dale) of Oxford, NC. She leaves behind 8 precious grandchildren, William B. Daniel, III (Natasha), Meredith James (Scott), Allison Bell, Christopher Daniel (Devin), R. William Currin, Jr (Erika), Melissa Byrum (John), Peyton Satterwhite (Rob), Watson Roberson and 13 beloved great-grandchildren and 1 precious great, great grandchild. She is also survived by her sister, Lucy Griffin of Macon, GA; her sister-in-law, Vickie Lunsford and brother-in-law, Joe Hart. She will be missed by many extended family and friends too numerous to name.
Betty was predeceased by her parents, her husbands, Robert S. Knott and Charlie R. Wilkerson; her brother, William Thomas Lunsford and her sisters, Nancy Hart, Peggy Evans and Ludie Lunsford.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Hester Baptist Church, Highway 96 N, Oxford, NC 27565 and will be officiated by Reverend J. Marshall Neathery. Pallbearers are the grandsons of her family.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made in Betty’s memory to Granville County Senior Services, PO Box 1287, Oxford, NC 27565.
