Mary Elizabeth Lunsford Whitfield

Mary Elizabeth Lunsford Whitfield, 95, former resident of Durham, went to be with God, Saturday night, in Houston, Texas. Mrs. Whitfield was born in Durham on January 1, 1912 and was the daughter of the late Dennis Tilley Lunsford aneeva Mae Jones Lunsford. She was a graduate of Durham High School and attended East Carolina Uneersity. Mrs. Whitfield was with the accounting department of Duke Power Company for 43 years. She had lived in Durham most of her life before retiring to Oak Island, NC, where she lived until moving to Houston. Mrs. Whitfield was a member of Trinity Uneed Methodist Church and the Susanne Wesley Bible Class. Mrs. Whitfield was preceded ineeath by three brothers, William Allen Lunsford, Thomas Jones Lunsford and Dennis Tilley Lunsford, Jr. and one sister, Mildred Edna Ruth Lunsford. Surviving are her daughter, Sandra Elizabeth Whitfield Cauthen of Houston, TX; one brother, Foy Lee Lunsford of Kailua-Kona, HI ; three grandchildren, Robert S. Cauthen III, Macon Whitfield Cauthen aneelizabeth McCarley Cauthen and two great-grandchildren, Jackson Sidney Cauthen and Reese Sterling Cauthen. Funeral services will be held 1PM Saturday in Hall-Wynne Chapel. The Rev. Duke Lackey will preside. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12 noon to 1PM Saturday in Hall-Wynne Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children
