Mary Elaine Sparrow Montgomery

Mary Elaine Sparrow Montgomery died Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at Duke Medical Center. She was 80 years old. Elaine was born in Jacksonville, FL on May 12, 1927 to the late John M. Sparrow and Gertrude Whalen Sparrow French. A graduate of Binghamtoneentral High School in Binghamton, NY, Elaine attended George Washington Uneersity in Washington, D.C. and the Uneersity of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. She was employed with IBM Corp. for more than 20 years and retired after serving several years in the Washington, D.C. operations. Elaine was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Durham and a longtime member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She is survived by her brother, Thomas E. Sparrow of Newport Beach, CA; her nephew, Jeff Sparrow and wife, Sheryl, and children, Aneea and Justin, of Newport Beach, CA; and several nieces and step-childreneelaine was preceded ineeath by her husband, William S. Montgomery; and her brother, John M. Sparrow. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered 11:00 AM Friday, December 28, 2007 from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Steve Patti, O.F.M., presiding. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Friends may visit on Friday from 10:00-11:00 AM in the church. Flowers are acceptable or contributions in Elaine
