Raleigh: Mark D. Currin, age 65 of Raleigh died Saturday, June 28, 2014 after a long illness. A native of Granville County, he was the son of the late Watson and Edith Daniel Currin. Mark was a retired dental technician and was "Santa Claus" to family, friends and the community for many years. He loved his boys and family. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Chapel by Rev. Timothy Wheeler. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Surviving, his wife Susan A. Currin; sons, David S. Currin of Oxford, Bryan C. Currin Katie of Raleigh; his brothers, Joe Watt Currin Betty Lyne of Oxford, Pat Currin Juanita of Stem and Paul Currin Lynn of Oxford. He was preceded in death by a sister Hettie Lou Skipper and her husband, Morris Skipper. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to a charity of your choice. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:00 am prior to the service at the funeral home. Gentry-Newell & Vaughan is assisting the Currin family.
