Marion Mae Turner Bowen

Marion "Mae" Turner Bowen, 85, died Thursday at Durham Regional Hospital. Born in Durham, she was the daughter of the late Robert O. Turner and Carrie Byrd Turner. She was a member at Carr Uneed Methodist Church and the Nell Morris Sunday school class. Through the church, Mae and her husband, the late William W. Bowen, Jr., voluneered with Urban Ministries. Mrs. Bowen was also a member of the Sara Barker Circle of the Kings Daughters and Sons. Mrs. Bowen was a retired employee of GTE. Surviving are her daughter, Judy Kay Bowen of Kinston; and her sister, Nell Ferrell of Durham. Funeral Services will be held 2 PM Sunday from the Hall-Wynne Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Cheryl M. Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-5 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
