Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Tew Upchurch, 93, passed away at Hillcrest Convalescent Center on Monday, June 7, 2021. She was born to Edward Lee Tew and Marion Elizabeth Sigley Tew on October 26, 1927 in Goldsboro, NC. She graduated from Durham High School in 1945.
Margaret was the beloved wife, for fifty years, of Thomas Christian Upchurch, her precious husband who predeceased her on October 2, 1998.
The couple were members of Temple Baptist Church.
Margaret is survived by the couple’s two daughters, Brenda Ruth Upchurch Martin(Wescott) and Jan Sigley Upchurch Dees(Archie). She was Grandmama to Christie Beth Dees(Tshi Tshi), Michael David Dees, and Adam Upchurch Martin. She had three great-grandchildren, Christie’s children Michael David, Mia, and Cailyn.
Mrs. Upchurch’s ashes were interred next to her husband’s at a private family gathering in Maplewood Cemetery on Saturday, June 12, 2021.
