Margaret Hatcher Miller (aka, Queen Mum, Nini), 101, died peacefully on March 5, 2021, at Carolina Reserve in Durham, NC. She was born February 24, 1920 in Waynesville, Ga. She was the daughter to Corrie and Stella Mae Hatcher.
Margaret attended Durham public schools. She married Lathrop Edwin Miller until his passing. They raised two daughters, Pat and Deborah, in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Durham, NC.
Margaret was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to many. She enjoyed home making, working in the yard, playing bridge, ballroom dancing, volunteering, gardening, playing tennis, laughing, flirting, and shopping for the ultimate deal. She actively participated in the Duke Auxiliary, The Driftwood Garden Club, The First Baptist Church Decorating Committee, and various bridge clubs. She was a member of Yates Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents and her first husband, Eddie, Margaret is predeceased by her younger brother Edward Hatcher and her second husband, Max Besser.
In addition to her two doting daughters, Pat Spivey and Deborah White, both of Durham, she is survived by seven grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. All who knew her will carry her memory and the many "Nini" stories in to the future.
