Margaret Barrett Joyner passed away December 7, 2011. Margaret was born August 27, 1923, in Mount Vernon, GA, to the late Linton S. Barrett and Mary Brewton Barrett. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2011, at the Uneersity Presbyterian Church, Chapel Hill, NC. Following the funeral service, the family will receive friends at the church. Burial and graveside services will be held at a later date at the Bay Branch Baptist Church Cemetery in Screven County, GA. Margaret graduated from Brewton-Parker College, where her grandfather was a founder and her father was President, and Mercer Uneersity. Margaret taught at Toombs County Schools and at Brewton-Parker College. She and Felix Joyner married on June 28, 1945 in Mount Vernon, GA. They lived in Frankfort, KY, for 16 years; in Rangoon, Burma, for 3 years; and in Atlanta, GA, for 1 year, before moving to Chapel Hill, NC, in 1968. Margaret was a member of the Uneersity Presbyterian Church in Chapel Hill. Margaret is survived by her husband of 66 years, L. Felix Joyner of Chapel Hill, NC; sons Leon S. Joyner Suellen of Brentwood, TN, and Barrett R. Joyner Stephenie of Cary, NC; grandchildren Brian S. Joyner Julie of Rock Hill, SC; Matt R. Joyner of Cary, NC; Kate E. Joyner of Seoul, Korea; great-grandchildren William, Haydeneelaine, and Anna Joyner of Rock Hill, SC; Ward Brinson Caroline of Screven County, GA; nieces Marie Joyner Brown Horace of Lilburn, GA, Beth Joyner Stewart Jimmy of Lilburn, GA, Wendy Joyner of Americus, GA, Cindy Joyner Wiley John of Lilburn, GA, aneellen M. Barrett, of Wantage, England; great nieces Marcia Carter John of Jessup, GA, Vicki Foxworth Mikell of Lanier, GA; nephew Arthur L. Barrett of Huntsville, AL; and great nephews Mack Hagin Sandy of Richmond Hill, GA, and George Hagin Susan of Pembroke, GA; and Ward Brinson Caroline of Screven County, GA. Margaret was predeceased by her brother Linton S. Barrett Marie and her sisters Elizabeth Stubbs and husband, Vivian, Lucy Barrett, and Sarah Barrett; her niece Marian Stubbs Hagin Mack; and her brother-in-law Wendell Joyner Rosela.
