Luke David Graham Johnston 19, beloved by his family and friends has crossed over the river Jordan and has entered into eternal peace with Jesus Christ. Luke was born oneebruary 20, 1989 in Grahamstown, South Africa. Luke spent his early years enjoying travel with his family in places such as the Caribbean Islands, India, the Uneed Kingdom and the Uneed Arab Emirates. We believe this helped develop within Luke such a love of life, and appreciating God's creation as his favorite hymn was "This is My Father's World." Luke spent his first sixteeneears home-schooling with his siblings while becoming an accomplished student, pianist, artist and athlete. He entered Leesville Road High School as a junior and was a graduate of the Class of 2007, graduating with honors. While at Leesville, he was a member of the cross country team, involved in FCA and the swim team becoming a regional and state finalist for two years as well as an Academic All-American athlete. Luke devoted several years to year-round swimming where he swam at the state level of competition. However, his greatest devotion was to his family, friends and his Lord. A member of Christ Covenant Church, he was actively involved in the Sinees Ministry, teaching children's church and Campus Crusade. Left to cherish his memory are his parents David and Susan, brothers Ian and Brock along with his sister Tegan, grandparents aneextended family. The family wishes to thank Duke Hospital for their care during this time and for the prayer and support of friends. Visitation for Luke will be from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday August 23 at Christ Covenant Church, Fox Road, Raleigh.
