DURHAM: Louise A. LeMay, 85, of Durham, departed this life after an extended illness. She was born on March 23, 1926, and was preceded ineeath by her husband of 63 years, Dr. John C. Lemay, her parents, Clara Louise and Julianeeredith Alston, her brother, Julianeeredith Alston, Jr. and by her sister Anne Alston Malloy Currin. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother who loved working ineer house and yard. Wheneer mother became ill she went to live in Pittsboro with her Auneevelyn and Unee D. B. nee. She was a graduate from Pittsboro High School, and attended Peace College in Raleigh. Mrs. LeMay was a 50 year resident of Durham, a member of Mount Sylvan Uneed Methodist Church where she spearheaded the creation of Mt. Sylvan Pre-school, was nursery coordinator for over 20 years on neerous church committees, was a member of the Dorothy Smith UMW Circle and the Sylvan Bible Sunday School Class where she was still serving as vice president. She was also a Boy Scout Troop Leader and she worked for several years at Northern High School in the office. Mrs. LeMay is survived by two childreneevelyneeMay Harris and husband Randy of Oxford and John Cullom LeMay, Jr. and wife, Wendy of Durham; four grandchildren, Margaret Talley Sanes, Stephen Adam LeMay, Rebecca AnneeMay and John Cullom LeMay III; one great granddaughter, Olivia Grace Morris and a sister, Mary Rose Alston Satterwhite and her husband, Charles of Jacksonville, Florida. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM Friday, March 23 at Elmwood Cemetery ineenderson and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 24, at 11:00 AM at Mt. Sylvan Uneed Methodist Church in Durham with a reception following in the fellowship hall. The Rev. Bess Hunnings-Smith, the Rev. Brian Wingo and the Rev. Jason Thornton will officiate. Pallbearers are Adam LeMay, Jason Harris, Jonathan Morris, Jerry Sanes, the Honorable Henry Hight, and Paul Hornbuckle. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the memorial scholarship ineemory of Dr. John c. LeMay and Louise A, LeMay at Louisburg College, 501 North Main Street, Louisburg, NC 27549 or to Duke Hospice, 4321 Medical Park Dr., Suite 101, Durham, NC 27704.
