Durham – Lois Crowell, age 86, died on March 14, 2025. She was born on January 22,1939 to the late Edward and Louise Crowell.

Growing up in Elizabeth, NJ, Lois attended St. Genevieve’s Grammar School and graduated high school from St. Mary’s High School in 1957. Lois held many jobs early in her career but spent the majority of her working career with ExxonMobile as a receptionist at the refinery in Newark, NJ. After her retirement in 1985, Lois moved to Palmetto, Florida where she was active in her ExxonMobile Retirement Club and her local Catholic church. Lois loved to travel and took any opportunity to do so. In 2017, Lois relocated to Durham, NC to be closer to her niece.

Lois Crowell is survived by her nieces and nephews, Patricia Begrowicz, Susan Clifton (Thomas), Paul Crowell (Gianine), Karen Casey, Christopher Crowell (Jeanne) and Anne-Marie Schock (Todd), sister-in-law, Carol Crowell, sixteen great-nieces and nephews and seven great-great nieces and nephews. Lois Crowell was preceded in death by parents, Edward and Louise Crowell and brother, Edwin Crowell.

The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 10AM at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 1001 Mason Rd. Durham, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Matthew Catholic Church.
