Lilyan Rampone, 93, died peacefully in her daughter’s home in Efland on February 15, 2023.
Lilyan was born on July 4th, 1929, in Queens NY to Mary and Charles Gorini. She went to Our Lady of Sorrows elementary school and graduated from Flushing High School. She worked at AT&T telephone company until she was 25 at which time she decided to stay home to raise her family.
She lived in Elmhurst, Bayside, Dix Hills and Pt Jefferson, NY. Lilyan belonged to the Sewanaka Arts Council. She was an avid painter and her paintings were displayed in Port Jefferson Long Island art galleries. She was also a member of the Port Jefferson Garden Club.
After Lilyan's husband passed away in 2013, she moved to NC to live with her daughter, Christine. During her time in NC, she enjoyed her time at Charles House elder care community, going out to art galleries, parks, NC State Fair, participating in bible study at St Matthews Catholic Church, dinner and taking long walks.
She is survived by her daughters Christine Marrone, and her spouse Andrew Marrone and Janet Bidwell, and her spouse Robert Bidwell. She is preceded in death by her husband, Mario Rampone.
A funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Hillsborough on April 28th at 2pm. Her cremains will be buried on May 3rd on Long Island at St Charles Catholic Cemetery.
