Leora James Goss, 75, died Thursday, June 11, 2021. She was a born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 16, 1946 to the late Perry Watson James and Willie Bell Currin James.
Leora met and married John Milton Goss and they began a life in Granville County where they raised 3 children. They operated a successful farm and Leora worked for Nortel for 28 years as a supervisor over Inspections. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church.
Leora is survived by her children; John M. Goss, Jr. (Sandy) of Oxford; Lisa G. Wishon (Kevin Pickett) of Creedmoor and Shannon Goss Persinger (Stephen Hester, Jr) of Wake Forest and Kelly Allen and Tracie Amos. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Cynthia Ann Goss Jackson, Victoria Ann Goss, Cadance Persinger, Nickali Persinger, Collin Persinger, Michael Hester and Kaitlyn Pickett; her beautiful great grandchildren; Joey Johnson, Daylon Jackson, Daniel Jackson, Chancy Kelly, Ethan Kelly and James Kelly. She will be greatly missed by her siblings, Kinton Oliver, Kelly James, her twin, Leon James, Marion James Marks, Bobby James, Brenda James Hooten, Joy James Walker, Ronnie James, Judy James and Audrey Smith. She will also be missed by many extended family and friends too numerous to name.
Leora was preceded in death by her husband John “Mick” Goss, Sr., her brothers, Randall Oliver, Malcolm James and her sister, Wilma Oliver Cifers; her grandson, Lucas Wishon and granddaughter, Angel Jackson.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday June 13, 2021, in the funeral chapel at Gentry – Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home of Oxford. Burial will follow in the Community Garden of Stem, NC.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM prior to the service at Gentry – Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home and at other times at the family home.
Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made in her honor to St. Judes Hospital.
