Leonard Richey Cooper

Mr. Leonard Richey Cooper, 70, of LC Farm Road, Pittsboro, died March 18, 2013 at UNC Hospitals. Mr. Cooper was born March 5, 1943 ineeKalb County, Alabama, one of twelve children of Dolphy and Sindy Ledford Cooper. He enjoyed golf, bowling and fishing; watching westerns and wrestling oneelevision, and riding his mower and his tractor. Mr. Cooper was an expert mechanic, adept at working on both cars and tractors. An electrician by trade, Mr. Cooper retired from UNC following 30 years of service. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Uneed Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Linda Mann Cooper; two sons, Tracy Lynn Cooper and Scott Aaron Cooper, both of Pittsboro; grandchildren, Kayla Elizabeth Cooper and Chelsea Marie Cooper; step-grandchildren, Holdeneeacham and Sydney Helbert; and two brothers, Charles Cooper and Leroy Cooper, both of Alabama. The service to celebrate the life of Mr. Leonard Cooper will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Mt. Pleasant Uneed Methodist Church, with Pastor Jim Jones presiding. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 11 am until 1 pm at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home in Pittsboro, and at other times at the Cooper residence.
