Leon Mccree Bowman

(Durham) – Leon Bowman, age 87, died on July 29, 2021. He was born on April 3, 1934 to the late Clyde McCree Bowman and Effie Robinette Bowman in Valdese, NC.

Leon was a devoted volunteer at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, as well as an avid golfer and gardener.

Leon is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Dellinger Bowman, as well as his daughters Tamara Bowman (Peter Simon) and Kim Woolley (Kirk), his brother Charles Bowman (Carolyn), his sisters Frances Sigmon, and Phyllis Little (Harvey). Leon is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Logan Simon, Leah Simon, Sarah Woolley (Jordan Cottle), and Katrina Woolley, and one great granddaughter Lily Anne Cottle. Leon was preceded in death by his sister Lillie Jo Elder, and brothers Carroll Bowman and Roger Bowman.

A visitation with the family will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Durham, NC at 2pm on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 to be followed by a church service at 3pm.

A graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Hickory, North Carolina on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at 1pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
