Kirit Hasmukhbhai Patel

Kirit Hasmukhbhai Patel, age 58, died in Durham on December 7, 2024. He was born on August 14,1966 to Hasmukhbhai Patel and Latabhen Patel.

Kirit Hasmukhbhai Patel was born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya until he moved to the United States in 1982. When he moved to the United States he attended the University of North Carolina in Greensboro and subsequently began his career owning and operating the Dolly Madison/Budget Inn in Roxboro, NC. During this time he married Zankhana Patel with whom he had three children: Shiv, Aashik, and Nidhi. In 1999 he moved to Durham, North Carolina where he permanently resided with his family. He was a man with many principles: he was fearless, selfless, and forged his path with his loving and big heart. His purpose was to take care of his family and ensure they were physically and emotionally supported. At home, he was known for spoiling the family dog, Tina, with treats, who would follow him around knowing a tasty good was always around with him. He always lived life to fullest, taking a natural interest in everything around him and challenging himself to continually learn about the evolving world. He loved Duke basketball and was very proud of his collection of Duke memorabilia. When he stepped into the room his presence was always felt - whether it be from his singing and eclectic dance moves, his mischievous nature and natural ability to make you laugh, or from the smell of the cologne he doused himself in. He was also known to dress well everyday and loved taking care of his appearance. Above everything, his family and those friends that became family were of utmost importance to Kirit. 

Kirit Hasmukhbhai Patel is survived by Zankhana Patel, Shiv Patel, Aashik Patel, and Nidhi Patel.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service.
