Mr. Kevin Scott Marks, 44, of Pittsboro and formerly of Apex and Wilmington, died September 8, 2010. Kevin was born in Fairfax, VA on January 27, 1966. He was a 1984 graduate of Cape Fear Academy in Wilmington, and attended both UNC Wilmington and UNC at Chapel Hill. He moved to Apex in 1995. Kevineerved as an Accolyte for many years at St. Pauls Episcopal Church and St. Aneews On The Souneepiscopal Church, both of Wilmington NC. His voluneer work included teaching inmates of Wilmington prison to read and write, constructing homes for Habitat for Humanity, counseling at PFAFF Episcopal Church in Chapel Hill, and the Goathouse Refuge in Pittsboro, NC. He was a Lieutenant in the Army National Guard, a willing and able mentor to the junior servicemen and servicewomen with which he proudly served, and a recent participant in a Humanitarian mission for orphaned children in Moldova. Kevin was a fitness enthusiast, serving with great joy and dedication the members of the Wilmington and Cary YMCAs for many years. He had a passion for sports and outdoor activities including hiking on the island of Kauai, Hawaii, snow skiing with his family, paintball, sailing, was a member of the Wilmington Model Flying Club, and an accomplished raquetball player. Kevin's love of music maneested itself through his playing bass guitar in a local band, and he could be counted on to attend concerts whether rock bands or symphonies. Kevin was the most genee and kind soul. God provided him with this gift and he offered it, without restraint, to everyone he met. We know he is now resting in the presence of the Lord. Kevin was a member of The Potter's Hand Bible Church in Apex. At the time of his death Kevin was employed by Dr. Jerry ter Avest. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Campbell Marks; his mother, Katherine D. Marks of Wrightsville Beach; sisters, Kimberly Lefler and husband Don, of Wrightsville Beach, Christine Suit and husband Jesse, of Virginia Beach, VA; nieces, Blair Lefler, Haley Suit, and Abby Suite; and, nephew Ryan Suit. The memorial service to celebrate Kevin's life will be held at 3 pm Sunday at The Potter's Hand Bible Church in Apex. The family will receive friends after the service.
