Kevin O’Foghludha, aged 30, died unexpectedly on May 9, 2023, in London, England. Kevin was an Army veteran and was proud of successfully earning his Airborne wings and completing the Special Forces selection course. Kevin excelled at helping people and worked as a recreational therapist in Salt Lake City and at the Rutlish School in London. Kevin was a three-sport star at Riverside High School in Durham, NC. In his senior year, Kevin was All-Conference, All-East, and All-State in lacrosse. He was selected as an Adidas All-American for North and South Carolina, and chosen to be in the Great 38, which recognizes the best high school lacrosse players in NC. Kevin was a member of the NC Fellowship of Christian Athletes travel team and played in lacrosse tournaments around the nation.
Kevin loved his family, his dog Roxy, his girlfriend Marina, and Duke basketball. He was an avid student of Irish history and loved collecting Irish, English, and American coins. Kevin attended Colorado State University, Alamance Community College, and Salt Lake City Community College where he qualified as a recreational therapist. He completed the intense 90-day course at the National Outdoor Leadership School in Baja, Mexico.
Kevin leaves behind his parents, Linda Daniel and Michael O’Foghludha; his brother, Matthew; aunts, uncles, and cousins in the U.S., Ireland, England, and Australia; and friends in Durham, Salt Lake City, and London.
A memorial mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Durham at 4 p.m., Friday, August 18, with a brief reception to follow. Visitation at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service on Thursday, August 17, 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Kevin’s name to the Animal Protection Society of Durham.
