Durham – Kenneth S. Clayton, age 91, died at Croasdaile Pavillion North on June 4, 2020. He was born on February 14,1929 to the late George and Ara Couch Clayton.
Kenneth grew up in Orange County, NC and attended Hillsborough High School. He was a member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church. He was employed by Carolina Air Conditioning Co. for 36 years and retired in 1994. Kenneth enjoyed the outdoors and hunted and fished in his younger years. Both he and his wife Sibyl enjoyed traveling via an RV and later took bus tours across America seeing most of the United States. Kenneth enjoyed gardening and gave away hundreds of pounds of tomatoes and other vegetables to family and friends. He loved his community often visiting or calling those who were sick or home bound. Kenneth was compassionate, loved being with family, always had a smile, a warm heart and was a mentor to his nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Kenneth is survived by his wife Sybil, his brother G.D. Clayton, brother in law Phillip Totten and Bertice Sorrell and many nieces and nephews. Kenneth was preceded in death by his sisters, Mozelle Alford, Ethel Miller and his brother Giles Clayton.
A graveside service will be held for family and friends at Pleasant Green United Methodist Church on Sunday, June 7 at 2 PM with Pastor Laura Thompson officiating. Due to the Covid 19 virus family is asking mask be worn and physical distancing be practiced.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Green UMC General Fund
