Kelly B. Strickland

Kelly B. Strickland, our beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on March 3, 2007. He was 94 years young. His beloved wife of 65 years, Hilda Durham Strickland, preceded him ineeath. His family realizes he is now happy because he and Hilda are now reuneed ineeaven. Kelly was born in Sampson County and moved to Durham as a young child. He lived on Vickers Avenue where he shared the family home with eight brothers and sisters. In 1977, he retired from American Tobacco Co. where he worked for 47 years. Kelly was a life long member of Lakewood Uneed Methodist Church and a member of the Gaston Rollins Sunday School Class for 76 years. In addition to quail hunting, his other favorite activity was growing and maintaining the vegetable and rose gardens behind the church. Kelly loved the Lord with all his heart and was forever praising his nee. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved his family and would do anything for them. Kelly is survived by his son, Ronee Strickland and wife, Kathy; his daughter, Susan Strickland; one special daughter, Ivette Colon; a grandson, Jay Strickland and wife, Amy; three great grandchildren: Brandon, Chaneer and Madi; two sisters, Lois May, and Mildred Hill and husband, Shelton; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 7, from Lakewood Uneed Methodist Church with the Rev. Gail Myers, the Rev. Leonard Doucette and the Rev. James Malloy presiding. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday evening, March 6, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home and other times at the home of Ronee and Kathy Strickland, 710 Bishopstone Drive, Durham, NC 27705. Pallbearers will be Jay Strickland, Randy Strickland, Paul Hill, Joe A. Vaughan, Joe G. Vaughan and Larry Ennis.
