Katherine Campbell Herndon

Katherine Campbell Herndon, age 98, of Pittsboro, NC died Monday July 14, 2014. She was born June 16, 1916 in Chatham County, NC. Katherine was employed by Chatham Mills in Pittsboro for 38 years. She was an avid seamstress and quilter aneenjoyed decorating cakes for her family and friends in the community. Katherine also was a member of the WMU and sang ineer church choir until her later years. She is preceded ineeath by her husband, John Jahue Herndon; her daughter Emma Lee Herndon Wilkinson; and a grandson, Robert Boyd Wilkinson. Katherine is survived by her sons, John Rufus Herndon and his wife Christiana and Terry Lynneerndon and his wife Carole of Pittsboro; her granddaughter Jara Herndon and two grandsons Yan and Aric Herndon of Pittsboro. A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2014 from 6-8 pm at Hall Wynne Griffin Chapel. The funeral service will be at 2 pm on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at New Salem Baptist Church, Pittsboro.
