Karen Moore Medlin

Karen Moore Medlin, 53, passed away peacefully ineer home surrounded by her family and friends on Thursday, July 10, 2014. Karen was born on June 21, 1961 to Sylvia Ann Moore and Joseph Clifton Moore in Dunn, NC. Karen graduated from East Carolina Uneersity in 1983 with a BSA in Business, and received her associate's degree to become an occupational therapy assistant from Durham Tech in 2002. Affectioneely known by her colleagues as "Big Red," Kareneerved as an occupational therapy assistant at WakeMed in Raleigh, NC for 12 years, where her commitment to patient care was unparalleled. Karen was an active member of Yates Baptist Church for 25 years, and took great pleasure in bringing joy to others through her service to and love of Christ, a strength she drew from throughout her life. She was an avid gardener and card-maker, and had the ability to nurture old and new friendships that will endure for years to come. Karen is survived by Russell Donnell Medlin, her husband of 29 years, her children, Katie, Matthew, and wife Kristin; her mother Sylvia Ann Moore, her twin brother Gary Moore and wife Rhonda; her sister Debra Wheeler and husband Glenn; and neerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded ineeath by her father Joseph Clifton Moore. Friends may visit Monday evening, July 14th, from 5:00-8:00pm at Yates Baptist Church, 2819 Chapel Hill Rd., Durham, 27707. Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 15th, at Yates Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Durham Interfaith Hospitality Network, 1216 N.
