Karen Burnette Kilburn

Mrs. Karen Kilburn, 54, died Sunday, March 4, 2012, at the Duke Uneersity Medical Center in Durham. Karen Burnette Kilburn was born October 2, 1957, to the late John McClellan Burnette and Betty Jane McCleney. She was raised in Buncombe County. She grew up raising and riding Quarter horses & Tennessee Walkers. Karen graduated from Campbell Uneersity, earning an Associate of Arts degree in Business. She was employed as a Legal Assistant with Glaxo Smith Kline. Karen's love of her six horses was only surpassed by the love for her family. In addition to her parents, Karen is preceded ineeath by her brother and her stepson, Joshua Kilburn. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Curtis F. Kilburn, of the home; her daughter, Kristen Hinson, of Raleigh, NC; and her stepson, Jeremiah Kilburn, of Pittsboro. The family will receive friends 7:00-9:00PM, Thursday, March 8, 2012, at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service in Pittsboro. A funeral service for Mrs. Kilburn will be held at 3:00PM, Friday, March 9, at Christ UMC, with the Reverend Steve McElroy officiating.
