Julia Smith Walters, aged 102, died on June 8, 2023, at UNC Hospice House, Pittsboro, NC. A resident of Stoneridge Retirement Community in Cary, she was born and raised in Salisbury, NC, the daughter of the late Lawrence Neal Smith and Margaret Albright Smith, she was born on April 10, 1921. A 1937 graduate of Boyden Hight School, she was also a graduate of Salisbury Business College. She was predeceased by her husband, James Herman Walters and her siblings. (Margaret S. Solomon, Alice S. Parks, Lawrence N. and Jack N. Smith).
After her husband’s death, she sold the family business and went to work for the NC Lutheran Synod from which she retired. She was very talented and could make, sew or create anything. She enjoyed working in her yard and volunteering at the Patient Library in the VA Hospital and working in the Gift Shop for the Novant Rowan Regional Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Betsey) Edgeworth and her grandson, Anders Sture Johansson (Kelley). Also surviving are step grandchildren Richard Reid Edgeworth (Lynn) and James Stanley Edgeworth; great grandchildren include, Anders Weaver and Annika Cate Johansson, Johnathon and Kimberly Edgeworth: Connor James, Bailey Ann, and Crosby Paul Edgeworth.

Per her request, there will be no services at this time. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery at a later date.
