Julia Jean Insley passed away at her home on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. Julie suffered from Parkinson’s Disease for many years before she succumbed to it. She faced this challenge head-on and educated herself about treatment options. Throughout her battle with the disease, Julie remained socially active, including participating in a Parkinson’s dance troupe, which performed publicly, and in her work as long as she could. Julie’s cheerfulness and desire to better the lives of others were hallmarks of her amazing life, its opportunities, and adventures. Her courage and determination throughout this long, hard journey have been an inspiration to her family and friends, and we will greatly miss her.
Julie had a big heart and a truly genuine personality. She gave so much to those around her throughout decades of her recreation therapy and homeopathic careers. Julie also had a great love of nature and always preferred to live in places that allowed her to grow and nourish many plants and animals. Julie loved to travel when she could and visited numerous other countries and cultures which she effortlessly incorporated into her own. She was a great pet mom to many dogs and cats over the years, including her current cat, Josiah.
Julie was predeceased by her mother Bonnie Brown Marple, father James Markie Insley, and sister Missy Insley. She is survived by her siblings Mark Insley, Paul Insley, Jamie Insley, Janet Insley, and Suzy Insley Nisbet (Stuart); nieces and nephews Shannon, Alicia, Tiffany, Adam, Nicole, Rachel, Mason, Luke, and Maya; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Julie will be remembered by her family and friends at a Celebration of Life on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the Bond Park Kiwanis Picnic Shelter on Bond Park Drive in Cary, NC 27513. We will gather and visit 11:00-11:30 am, have a service 11:30 am-12:30 pm, and eat lunch 12:30-2:00 pm. If anyone would like to speak or share stories during the service, please contact Suzy Nisbet. Please dress casually like you would if you were going with Julie to a park or on a hike. There are great trails from the parking lot if you want to walk around before or after the gathering.
