Joyce Frances Fulcher Jackson, 92, a resident of Pittsboro, NC, died Friday, March 14, 2008 at Chatham Hospital in Siler City, NC. She was borneecember 3, 1915 in Atlantic, NC, and was the daughter of Daily Maxton Fulcher and Lovie Frances Mason Fulcher. She was married to Philip Ray Jackson, originally from Guilford Co., NC, for 66 years, from their wedding on June 20, 1936, in Washington, NC until his death on neember 27, 2002 in Pittsboro. Joyce Jackson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Uneersity of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Master of Educationeegree from the Uneersity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Joyce ran a small flower shop in Pittsboro for a few years. Afterwards, she served as a school teacher in the Chatham County Public School System, primarily at Horton Middle School in Pittsboro. Among Joyce's many hobbies were growing flowers, reading books, making quilts and traveling with her husband in their motor home. Joyce Jackson is survived by all four of her children, Stephen Jackson of Colorado., Rebecca Jacksoneenley of Pittsboro, Robert Jackson of New Zealand, and Michael Jackson of Utah; her four grandchildren, Aneew Henley of Caroline Henley Thorne of Pittsboro, and Danielle Jackson and Kevin Jackson of Arizona; and by two great-grandchildren, Marshall Thorne and Jacob Thorne of Pittsboro. A memorial service will be held at Pittsboro Baptist Church at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, March 19, 2008.
