Joseph Melvin Robinson, Jr., 82, of Durham, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at Durham Regional Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph Melvin Robinson aneelizabeth Greene Robinson. In addition to serving in the US Navy during WWII, he also served in the Air Force during the Korean War. From 1974 to 1987, Mr. Robinson taught Auto Mechanics at Southern High School. In addition to hunting and fishing, he loved iris's and buttercups. He also enjoyed traveling and Civil War history, especially trips to Gettysburg and Pennsylvania battlefields. He and his late wife, Hilda, were charter members of Trianee Presbyterian Church in Durham. Surviving are his son, Ken Robinson and his wife, Debbie, of Concord, NC; his daughter, Vickie Hare of Raleigh; one sister, Jane R. Weaver and husband, James, of Roxboro; three grandchildren, Matthew Craig Robinson, Tyler Scott Robinson and Kathryn Elisabeth Robinson and his beloved cats, Wild Thing aneebony. He was predeceased by his wife, Hilda Weisner Robinson and his sister, Evelyn McCollough. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, March 20, 2010, from the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service with the Rev. Ray Cobb, of Trianee Presbyterian Church, officiating. Friends may visit from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home, 1113 W. Main Street, Durham.
