Joseph “Lil Joe” Lee Bowman found his peace with Jesus, his Savior, on Sunday, May 9, 2021 at the age of 29. He was the son of the Stephen Lee Bowman of Oxford, NC and Karen Pratt Guidry of Morven, NC. Joseph was born on May 23, 1991in Ahoskie, NC.
Joseph showed Jesus unconditional love to all. He had a silly sense of humor, putting smiles on many faces. Joseph was wise beyond his years, gentle and kind. It has been said he would not hurt a flea.

Even throughout his own personal struggles, he went out of his way to help and guide others toward the path of righteousness. His knowledge of scriptures and love of Jesus was evident when the Holy Spirit would guide him to the exact scripture and biblical advice to those in need. God truly gave him a gift to counsel others and tell them exactly what they needed to hear.

Joseph is survived by his parents, Stephen Bowman and Karen Guidry; his sister, Mary Teresa Bowman and her fiancée, Roland. He is also survived by his great aunt Charlotte Fowler of Camden, NC; great uncle and aunt, Norwood (Buck) and Eleanor Hall of Camden, SC; aunt and uncle, Frederick and Kimberly Hight of Southport, NC; aunt, Nancy Bowman of Skipwith, VA; great uncle and aunt Garland and Beulah Mull of Chase City, VA; cousins Bret (Kendal) and their children, Audrey, Jake and Taylor; cousins, Jennifer (Caleb) Rowe, Kaitlin Underwood, Matthew (Anna) Underwood and other cousins too numerous to name throughout North Carolina and South Carolina. Joe was beloved by many that were not family by blood, but held close by love, including but not limited to his brother friend, Bobby “Lil Bob” Carter, who was close from a small child until the day God called him home; his special “mothers”, Nancy Hite; Rebecca “Momma Becky” Whitfield and her son, Colten; and Charlene Couch and her son, Jason Couch. He was beloved by many close and multiple friends whom he touched in so many ways, and he will be deeply missed.

Joseph was preceded in death by his grandparents, C.C. and Marguerite Bowman of Clarksville, VA; his uncle, Cecil Bowman of Skipwith, VA; grandparents, Dr. Bobby and Janet Pratt of Morven, NC; great aunt and uncle, Everett and Cherrie Hanna of Wadesboro, NC.
