Jonathan Lee Peeler

Jonathan Lee Peeler passed away Sunday January 8, 2023, age 91. He was born in Scranton, PA to the late James Lee Peeler and Elizabeth Beavers Peeler.

Jonathan graduated from Mercersburg Academy, Mercersburg, PA and UNC-Chapel Hill. He was also a graduate of NC Institute of Finance and Alexander Hamilton Institute as well as a member of Sigma Chi.

After college, he joined his father’s investment banking firm, J. Lee Peeler & Co.. He was a member of Midwest Stock Exchange, Chairman of the NC Municipal Council, Chairman of the Security Dealers of the Carolinas, member of the Board of Directors NC Advisory Committee, Director of the NC Municipal Council, member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and Hope Valley Country Club.

Surviving are his wife, Alice Thompson Peeler, son, James Reynolds Peeler, San Diego, CA, daughter, Alison Williams Peeler, Liberty, NC, Betsy Peeler (John) Cordozo, Wellington, FL; Anne Peeler (Clifton) Lewis, Birmingham, AL; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Jonathan supported a large number of charities, regularly donated platelets, delivered food for Meals on Wheels, tutored and transported families to Butner Prison.

He was an accomplished golfer and ran different marathons around the state. To celebrate his 50th birthday, he ran a 50 mile race.
