Oxford John William Hodges, Jr., 63, of 9024 Highway 96 N, Oxford, NC died Thursday, February 14, 2019. He was born in Roxboro, NC on April 23, 1955 to John William Hodges, Sr. and Rosa Watson Hodges, who survive. John was manager of the Granville County Habitat for Humanity Restore in Oxford; a position in which he was dearly devoted. Being a people person, John enjoyed the fellowship with many customers and volunteers. John was a kind and positive person, who never met a stranger and related to persons of all walks of life. He was an encyclopedia of knowledge, facts and history. His love of family and history led to a life-long hobby of genealogy. John was a talented wood craftsman, who spent his free time making furniture and restoring antiques. He also loved traveling and relaxing at home with his precious cats. Prior to employment with Habitat, he held various positions in retail, the manufactured homes industry and was a licensed General Contractor. In addition to his parents, John is survived by his partner of 30 years, Michael Ciriello; brother, Dennis Hodges (Teresa); sisters, Bonnie Meeler (Eldridge), Betty Yarbrough (Mitch), and Sherri Hodges; special nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all. John is predeceased by his grandparents, Walter and Annie Watson and Ray and Ester Hodges. The family will receive guests for visitation on Sunday, February 24, 2019, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Gentry-Newell - Vaughan Funeral Home, 503 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565. A private ceremony will be held at a later date. Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made in John's name to Granville County Habitat for Humanity.
