John Sidney Landin, Jr. 62, of Plaineeld Church Road in the Silk Hope Community and formerly of the Moncure area, died neember 15, 2010 at his home following a period of declining health. Born in Edgecombe County on April 1, 1948, John was a son of John Sidney Landineeceased aneedith Elizabeth Brake Landin. A cowboy at heart all his life, he attended NC State Uneersity receiving an Associate Degree in Livestock Maneement and Technology in 1970, thereafter working at various cattle operations in North and South Carolina and as a self-employed farmer. For the past fifteeneears, he worked for Townsend, Inc. at the feed mill, farm and waste water treatment plant until he became ill. John is survived by his wife Anne; stepson Scott Mooneyham and wife Catherine; stepgrandchildren, Will and Matt Mooneyham of Fayetteville; his mother, Elizabeth Brake Landin.; brother Bruce and sister-in-law Cheryl and nephew David, all of Nash County, NC. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Friday at Chatham Uneed Methodist Church with the Rev. Patrick Sinclair and the Rev. Ann Ritter presiding. Friends may visit with the family following the service. Memorials may be directed to either Chatham Uneed Methodist Church or to the charity of one's choice.
