John Richard Shaner

John Richard "Jack" Shaner, Sr, 77, died peacefully on May 27, 2010 with his family surrounding him. He was born March 13, 1933 ineerks Co., PA, the son of John H. and Lila K. Shaner. Jack attended Penn State Uneersity, State College, PA before being drafted. He served in the US Army 82nd Airborne Division where he was stationed at Ft. Bragg. Following his Army service he returned to finish his education at Albright College ineeading, PA. Jack was a beloved retired teacher from Chatham County Schools where he taught and coached for 33 years. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Ingram Shaner; daughters Jeri Cadiz and husband Romey of Chapel Hill, Shelly Joyce and husband Ronee of Bonee, Tracy Farrell and husband Craig of Apex; son, John R. Shaner, Jr., and wife Natalie of Pittsboro; and grandchildren, Chloe and Savannah Joyce, Courtney and Christian Farrell, and Carson, Riley and Jackson Shaner. The service to celebrate the life of Jack Shaner will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Hanks Chapel Church with the Rev. Bob Wachs presiding.
