John Luther Pendergrass

John Luther Pendergrass passed away peacefully at Hock Family Pavilion on Monday, October 28th. 

John was born in Durham, NC on August 3rd, 1955. After graduating high school, John attended Guildford College and played on the football team. John excelled in the paper printing business and worked for Zellerbach, Mead-West-Vaco and Chamblee printing. Despite a busy work schedule, John was always present for his sons Michael and David. He helped out with Scouts and loved watching his sons play baseball and soccer. John enjoyed family genealogy, NASCAR, Civil War history and volunteering at Immaculate Conception Church. 

John is predeceased by his father Luther Pendergrass, mother Mary Pendergrass, brothers George and James Pendergrass. He is survived by his wife of 40 plus years, Jane Mederer Pendergrass, sons Michael and David Pendergrass as well as his siblings Mary Sochacki, Carol Wheeless, and Susan Pendergrass. John also cared deeply about his nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held Friday, November 1st at Hall-Wynne Funeral home from 5 to 7pm. Funeral services will be held 1pm on Saturday, November 2nd at Oakwood Cemetery in Hickory, NC.
