Butner: John Asbury Fisher, Jr. , age 83, a native of Burke Co. died January 7, 2014 at his home. He was the oldest son of John Asbury and Lula Walker Fisher. John was a member of the First Baptist Church of Butner, a contractor and retired after 42 years of service in the N.C. National Guard. Funeral services will be conducted Friday January 10, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the First Baptist Church in Butner by Rev. Charles Bryan. Burial with Military Honors will be in South Granville Memorial Gardens. Surviving is his wife, Eva Walker Fisher; sons David "Andy" Fisher of Durham and John Douglas Fisher of Butner; daughters Linda Shore of Raleigh, Christina Fisher Jackie of Siler City and a step-daughter, LeAnne Lindsay Timmy of Butner; brothers Jesse Fisher and Charles Fisher both of Morganton; sister, Peggy Bennett of Morgantoneeight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday January 9, 2014 from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM at Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home in Oxford. At other times they will be at the home. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Duke Home Care & Hospice, 4321 Medical Park Dr. Suite 101, Durham, NC 27704 The Fisher family is under the care of Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home.
