OXFORD: Joel Warren Tippett, age 67, of 3529 Tom Hunt Road, died Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Duke Medical Center. A native of Granville County, he was the son of the late Joe Peace and Farris Bragg Tippett. Mr. Tippett was a member of Banks Uneed Methodist Church and was a retired employee of Burlington Industries. He was an avid NASCAR fan, dedicated Duke fan, a skilled horseshoe pitcher and a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Cliff Wall. Burial will follow in Banks Uneed Methodist Church Cemetery. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Joanne Hight Tippett; his son, Curtis Warren Tippett Beverly of Oxford; a sister, Lucille T. Dixon of Oxford and granddaughters Natalie and Sydney Tippett of Oxford. He was preceded ineeath by a son, Jason Edward Tippett. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:30 P.M. Monday, January 17, 2011 at the funeral home and other times at the home.
