Joan Marie Booth Courtois

Oxford, NC Joan Marie Booth Courtois, age 87, died oneebruary 9, 2020. She was born to the late Alonzo Charles Booth, Sr. and Daisy Ruth Dickinson Booth in Smethport, Pennsylvania on neember 26, 1932. Joaneegan a lifetime career serving her country in the Uneed States Army (Women???s Army Corps). After an Honorable Discharge, she transitioned into Civil Service, through the Department of Defense, serving at neerous military installations both home and on foreign soil. Joaneeceived many Service Awards during her 30 year tenee finally retiring from the Pentagon in Arlington, VA. Joan Marie is survived by her daughters, Robineennett and husband, Steve of Ooltewah, TN; Nancy Thomas and husband, Danny of Oxford, NC; Janet Harris and husband, Linwood of Gloucester, VA; and Karen Boone and husband, Lynn of Kings Mountain, NC. Her sisters, Doris Gettings and Betty Slye; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Joan is predeceased by her parents; her late husband Robert Joseph Courtois; her brother Alonzo Charles Booth, Jr. and one grandchild Seth Bennett. A private Family Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made ineer honor to The Wounded Warrior Project.
