OXFORD: Jimmy D. Crews, age 77, of 208 Grove Street, died Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at his home. A native of Granville County, he was the son of the late Jimmy Dean and Helen Satterwhite Crews. Jimmy was retired Director of Public Works for the city of Oxford for 40 years and a member of New Horizons Baptist Church. He was also an avid golfer. Memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, June 22, 2012 at New Horizons Baptist Church, Sterl Carrington Road, Oxford by Rev. Cam Ford. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Sarah W. Crews, 3 daughters, Wanda C. Garrett Ronee, Teresa C. Yeargin Billy and Dena C. Hayes all of Oxford; 1 sister, Evelyn C. Hicks of Oxford; 6 grandchildreneelizebeth W. Faucette, Blair Ann Garrett, Wil Yeargin, Noah Deaneeargin, Joshua Hayes, Olivia Hayes; 3 great-grandchildren, Hailey Eakes, Madison Faucette, and Austin Wilkins. A grandson, Bradley Peace Wilkins preceded him ineeath. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Horizons Baptist Church, 4523 Belltown Road, Oxford, NC 27565. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:00 AM Friday, June 22, prior to the service at the church. Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home is assisting the Crews family.
