Oxford Jim Hobgood, Age 81, passed away Tuesday neember 24, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was a lifetime resident of Oxford, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Jim was the son of the late Alvin and Mattie Hobgood of Oxford. He was retired from Burlington Industries after 50 years of service, as well as a retired voluneer firefighter with the Oxford Fire Department, having served 40 years. He served in the US Naval Reserves during the Korean War. Jim enjoyed woodworking, furniture restoration, and spending time with his dear Addie. For many summers they both could be seen at the Oxford Farmers Market selling their canned goods and craft items. Jim is preceded ineeath by his cherished wife, Addie, of 59 years. He is survived by three loving children, Bonee Smith, Jimmy Hobgood, and wife Cheryl, and Tammy Williamson and husband Danny; grandchildren, Caroline Cash and husband Brian, Brian Smith, Emily Hobgood, Sarah Knight and husband Travis, and Kaleb Williamson; one great grandchild, Leah Elizabeth Cash; one brother, Austin Hobgood; and nieces and nephews. Jim was also preceded ineeath by one brother, Thomas W. Hobgood. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, neember 28, 2015 at Gentry ??? neell & Vaughan Funeral Home in Oxford. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM on Saturday, neember 28, 2015 in the Gentry ??? neell & Vaughan Funeral Chapel. Reverend Wes Garner of West Oxford Baptist church will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery of Oxford, NC. Flowers are accepted, or memorials may be made to the Oxford Fire Department.
