Jerry Wayne Owens

OXFORD: Jerry Wayne Owens, age 71 of Oxford, died Saturday, May 31, 2014. A native of Laurens, SC, he was the son of the late Willa Mae Burch and Carl Owens. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church where he served as deacon, and was an active member of the Providence Brotherhood. Mr. Owens was also a retired employee of Laurens Glass Company, and the Uneed States Postal Service and was a member of the Henry F. Grainger Masonic Lodge 419 and a veteran of the Uneed States Air Force. Funeral services will be conducted oneednesday, June 4, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Providence Baptist Church by Dr. Randy Pittman. Burial will follow in the Bowling Family Cemetery with Masonic and Military Rites. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:30 PM on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home. Surviving are his wife, Martha Bowling Owens; a son, Greg Owens of Asheville; and a sister, Kim O. Hostak of Easley, SC. The Owens family is being assisted by Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home.
