Jerry L. Norton

Jerry L. Norton passed away peacefully in his home oneecember 5, surrounded by his family. Jerry is survived by his wife, Sheila Robinson Norton; daughters, Robin Kirk, (Allan D) of Durham, NC and Dawn Norton (Torey Arvik) of Vallejo, CA; grandchildreneeric and Shannon Kirk, and Annika Arvik; sisters-in-law, Twylia Robinson Cribb (Jerry) and Ann Robinson of Wilmington, NC aneemily Robinson Endert (Rich) of Richmond, VA; cousin, Syvon Hills of Las Vegas, NV and a multitude of granddogs and great-granddogs. Jerry was born ineearce???s Mill, NC, and grew up in Wilmington. He attended NC State Uneersity, where he earned his engineering degree. Jerry enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a civil servaneelectronic engineer for the US Navy in Norfolk, VA and California. After retirement, he returned to Smithfield, VA where he did his best to fish every day. He will best be remembered for his love of his family, his country, fishing, aneexperiencing all that life had to offer. He and Sheila were Master Gardeners, and voluneered with the Master Gardeners of Smithfield for many years. In 2017 he moved to Durham, NC. There, he continued his fishing quest aneenjoyed time with family. Family and friends will celebrate his life in the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service oneecember 15th at 11 a.m., reception to follow (location will be announced at service).
