Jennifer Bunting

Rockingham– It is with heavy hearts we announce that Jennifer Bunting, beloved mother, daughter, and friend, passed away aged 52 in Pinehurst, NC on October 14, 2024. She had recently relocated from the Triangle to Rockingham, NC in the Sandhills area.

Jennifer was born on April 20, 1972 in Durham, NC to Betsy High Batts and the late George “Sonny” Batts. She was raised partly in Wilmington before returning to Raleigh for middle school. She graduated from Heidelberg High School in Heidelberg, Germany. Jennifer was a job chameleon for many years, including work as a bouncer at a club in Seattle where she got an autograph from KC & the Sunshine Band. Another stand-out job she had was working on a fishing boat in Alaska that was later shown on an episode of Deadliest Catch. After all the excitement, she settled down to be a tax accountant-slash-payroll manager for about 20 years, part of which she was self-employed; she would joke she was the best boss she ever had.

When she wasn’t telling tales of her youth to her children, Jennifer enjoyed fibrecrafts, such as knitting, crocheting, and spinning yarn from alpaca fleece. She loved art in any form, Renaissance Faires, and any sort of oddity or curiosity she could get her hands on. Jennifer enjoyed playing video games, reading, watching Netflix shows, and connecting with others in any way she could; to name every group and club she was a part of would fill up a book.

Jennifer Bunting is survived by her mother, Betsy High Batts, her children Faye Lopez and Anderson Bunting, as well as her many, many cats (six to be exact!): Whitney, Uzi, Bennie, Missy, Archie, and Hobbit (also known as Bubba).

She was preceded in death by her father, George “Sonny” Batts.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM, Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Hall-Wynne Funeral Chapel, 1113 W. Main Street, Durham, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).

The Bunting family is under the care of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service. Online condolences: www.hallwynne.com – select obituaries.
