Jennie Louise Overby, aged 96, peacefully passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024. She was born on January 28, 1928, in Granville County, NC, to the late Roy Overby and Nola Ellington Overby. Jennie Louise was the cherished firstborn in her large family.
Jennie Louise found immense joy in the company of family and the simple pleasures of life, especially relishing moments spent dining out together. Her culinary talents were renowned, particularly for her homemade biscuits and banana pudding, which became treasured traditions among loved ones. Her heart resonated with the soulful melodies of gospel music, a source of solace and inspiration throughout her life.
Jennie Louise is survived by her devoted siblings, Ruth McGuire, Mary Helen Campbell, Janie Inez Loyd, and Linda O. Huff, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who were blessed by her presence and affection. Her love knew no bounds and her memory will forever be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Nola Overby, and her beloved siblings, Roy Lee Overby, Allan Thomas Overby, Albert Overby, Laura Mae Overby, Henry Lee Overby, Elsie Mae Overby, and Robert Overby, who surely welcomed her with open arms into eternity.
A funeral service honoring Jennie Louise's life will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan of Oxford, NC, officiated by Reverend Jake Robertson. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Royster Cemetery in Bullock, NC. Visitation hours will be held at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm, with additional times for fellowship and remembrance in the family home.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family welcomes and appreciates floral tributes in honor of Jennie Louise's vibrant spirit and legacy.
