DURHAM-Jeanette Dehm Jarrell, age 99, a long-time resident of Durham, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 12, 2015 at Hillcrest Convalescent Center in Durham.???? Jeanette was born in Brooklyn, NY, and graduated from Corlear Business School in Manhattan.???? When she moved to Durham, she was a homemaker and bookkeeper for her husband???s business.???? In 1961, she became the Librarian at Immaculata School retiring with 26 years of service.?? She found great joy ineeading to the younger students. ??A member of Immaculate Conception Church since the 1940???s, Jeanette was also a founding member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Durham #1576, which was founded in October 1951. Jeanette was born to Ernest William Dehm and Mary Loretta Sweeney Dehm in 1916.???? She was preceded ineeath by her husband of 70 years, Rex Burney Jarrell Sr., her brothers, William Ernest Dehm and George Anselm Dehm.?????? She is survived by her children, Rex B Jarrell Jr. and Mary of Raleigh N C; Ronald E Jarrell and wife, Jean, of Graham NC; Philip A. Jarrell and wife, Judy, of Fremont, Ca.; Linda M. Eckenhoff and husband, Ted, of Southampton, NJ;?????? Mary Ann Haverland and husband, Larry, of Oak Island, NC; Mark S. Jarrell and wife, Lois, of Chapel Hill NC.?????? Jeanette was a loving grandmother to 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Jeanette touched the lives of many people over the years with her smile, kineess, and love and was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.?????? The family is deeply appreciative to the staff of Hillcrest for the loving care she received. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered oneed. June 17 at 10:30 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Durham, with visitation one hour prior to the Mass. ????A reception will be held in the gathering space immediately after mass and burial will follow in St. Matthew Catholic Cemetery in Durham.
