Durham, NC – James William McClure, 69, passed away January 9, 2025.
James was born in Kings County, Washington. He grew up in a military family and lived in multiple places including France for the first several years of his life. His parents Richard and Marie McClure settled down in Durham North Carolina in Parkwood when he was around 10 years old in 1965. He excelled at everything that he did including sports, art, and boy scouts. With his father being the scout master in Parkwood he achieved the highest rank in scouting, obtaining the rank Eagle in the shortest amount of time needed, 2 years and 9 months. He truly enjoyed competing in sports and played football at Jordan High and any sport they were playing at the Lose Down at Parkwood Shopping Center. His friend circle was amazing and quite large due to his love of life and compassion he showed towards others. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and never excluded anyone from having a good time. He worked in the prosthetics and orthotics field, and he was able to use his artistry and creativity through his work building custom braces and foot orthotics that improved his patients’ lives dramatically. He was truly a pioneer in his field for 35 years and helped thousands of people and felt rewarded each day, especially for the children he helped give the ability to walk. His happy place was in the yard landscaping and creating a work of art outside of his home. He was an amazing husband, father, brother, son, and friend.
James McClure is preceded in death by his father Richard McClure and his sister Joyce Howard.
