James Glenn Garth

James Glenn Garth, age 77, died April 16, 2013 in Palm Beach Shores, FL. A resident of Chapel Hill, Glenn was born in Ennis, TX to the late James Edward and Juanita Stringer Garth on January 17, 1936. Glenn graduated from Abilene Christian Uneersity and spent his career in maneement working for Southwesterneell which later became AT&T ineexas, Missouri, New York and New Jersey. Following his retirement from AT&T, he subsequently worked for McElroy, Deutsch and Mulvaney and then for Hudson Uneed Bank where he retired in 1999. Glenn was most proud of his association with the Rotary Club of which he became a member in 1958 and later received the Paul Harris Fellow Award. An avid golfer and Carolina basketball enthusiast, Gleneearned the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a member of the Cole Mill Rd. Church of Christ in Durham. Glenn is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Carol Ann Garth of Chapel Hill; his daughter, Christy Lynn Garth and husband, Daneerman Blazer III, of Chapel Hill; and his granddaughter, Callie Ann Blazer. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013, from the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service with Minister Patrick Messer presiding. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 W. Main St., in Durham.
