James Marcus Cronin

James Marcus Cronin, aged 78, of Durham, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2025. Born on February 1, 1946, Jim lived a life marked by service, dedication, and community involvement.

A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Jim served in Vietnam and was a recipient of the Purple Heart, honoring his bravery and sacrifice for his country. Beyond his military service, he was an active member of the Lions Club for many years, giving back to his community through volunteer work and supporting countless initiatives. 

Jim is survived by his daughter, Erinn Parrish, and her husband, Robert Parrish, of Fort Worth, TX; as well as his three granddaughters, Gabrielle Parrish Cornell and her husband, Maverick, of Norfolk, VA, Lauren Parrish, and Elizabeth Parrish. He is also survived by his long-time partner, Donna King, and a circle of close friends who cherished his camaraderie and spirit. 

His contributions to his community and the lives he touched will be fondly remembered. 

Jim will be honored in a private service for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Lions Club or a veterans' organization of your choice, reflecting Jim’s commitment to service and giving back. 

He will be missed and remembered for his dedication to his country, his community, and those who knew him well.
