James Burton Lewis, Jr.

February 14, 1944 — April 24, 2017

James B. Lewis Jr. (also known as "Poppa and "Big Bear by the grand kids and Jim by others) passed away after a short illness with cancer at Duke University on April 24th, 2017. He was born in Easton MD on February 14, 1944 and lived in Cape Charles, VA until residing in Newport News, VA. Jim retired from C-P Telephone Co (AT-T), and then started Peninsula Wiring and Consulting Services. He also began E-J Upholstery and was well known for his work on antique classic car interiors. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James and Pearl Lewis of Cape Charles, VA, sisters Gretchen Harmon, and Janet Savage. He is survived by wife, Lorna Nicosia Lewis, sons James F. Lewis of Chesapeake, VA and Benjamin M. Lewis (Whitney E. Lewis), and grandchildren Ryan C. Lewis and Sydney K. Lewis of Oxford, NC. Family graveside services were held April, 27 2017, at Meadowview Memorial Park in Oxford, NC. The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to the oncology and radiology staff at Duke University Hospital in Durham and Maria Parham in Henderson for their compassionate care of Jim and his entire family. We are also very appreciative for the many friends that have continued to call, send cards, and remember all of us in prayer.
