Isabel Hinton Smith

Ms. Isabel Stark Smith, age 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 21, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Luther W. Stark and Cynthia Dorsey Stark and began her full life in Granville County, NC on April 21, 1931.

Isabel is survived by her son, James M. Smith of Oxford, and her daughter, Beverly Lane (Kenneth) of Oxford. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Carrie Smith (Brandon); Jared Lane (Louise); Emily Edwards (Wade) and greatly missed by great-grandchildren, Margot Smith, Ayden Matthews, and Harley Edwards. She leaves behind her sister-in-law, Jeanette Stark-Morris and many friends and extended family too numerous to name.

Isabel was predeceased by her parents; her husband, James William Smith and her brother, William “Billy” Luther Stark, Sr.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022, at 11:00 am at Delrayno Baptist Church. The family will receive guests for visitation from 10:00 am -11:00 am on Friday, September 23, 2022, in the sanctuary of Delrayno. The service will be officiated by Reverend Pat Cox and Reverend Joe Don Cooper and will conclude with burial at Elmwood Cemetery, Oxford, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Isabel’s memory to hospice agency, Amedisys of Franklinton, 3320 US 1 Highway, Suite B, Franklinton, NC 27525.

The family would like to say a special thank you to her caregivers, Almina Norton and Judy Jacobs.
